MOTUM has invested heavily to develop port specific applications of its driver training software platform MOTUM World. More than four years of development and continuous expansion of its assets, environments and capabilities has delivered a broad portfolio of training capabilities.
Digital models for any environment
International ports logistics company, ‘QUBE Ports’ use MOTUM’s True Motion, and MOTUM World technologies for simulation-based training of drivers in the skills of loading and unloading new cars from vessels. Modelled and provided in the Ports edition of MOTUM Word synthetic environment are various ‘Roll On/Roll Off’ vessels, and the Australian ports of Melbourne, Adelaide, Fremantle, Darwin, Brisbane, and Port Kembla.
MOTUM can produce digital models of any port environments, vehicles, and equipment, quickly and accurately replicating the real-world conditions and scenarios. This gives accuracy to the real-world training, ensuring skills and behaviours transfer seamlessly from the virtual to the real world, which delivers compelling return on investment.
Not limited to just cars, MOTUM has the capability to initiate simulation-based training solutions for any equipment type to be unloaded from a vessel including combine harvesters, forklifts, ITVs, graders, loaders, and dozers, as well as trailer assets including MAFI trailers, caravans and articulated heavy vehicles.
QUBE Ports have realised a 37% reduction in incidents in the first 18 months of MOTUM’s technology being incorporated into their training program.
The benefits of simulation based training for port operations
The training benefits provided by simulation in the ports sector are numerous. Minimising a vessel’s docked time is critical with the need for a rapid turn-around, preventing real world training of ‘Roll On/Roll Off’ drivers of cars and other equipment.

Competency levels and results according to client’s existing training systems are automatically generated and recorded to their chosen storage location (local drive or cloud) for later reference or auditing.
Results determination is 100% objective, with all trainee’s performance scrutinised by the same consistent method.
